Scarecrows coming to downtown Elkins

Randolph

Since 2015, Elkins Main Street in Randolph County has been hosting a downtown scarecrow decorating event in preparation for the fall season.

This year, the decorating will be accompanied by a Downtown Elkins Scarecrow Festival.  Business owners, organizations, and community members get the chance to liven up the streets with scarecrows decorated from head to toe.

“When we started it four years ago, we wondered, and it just grew and blossomed, and we’re probably looking at 100 or more scarecrows being put out this year.  Lots to come see and to view,” said Elkins Main Street Design Committee Volunteer Bobbi Trimboli.

Volunteers will be setting up the scarecrows in the morning on September 22, and the community is invited to a festival full of live entertainment, games, food, and best-in-show prizes that evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
