WVU Mountaineer shares hometown pride in Randolph County

Randolph

Elkins Rotary Club members welcomed 65th WVU Mountaineer Trevor Kiess during Monday afternoon’s regular meeting.

During his time as the Mountaineer mascot, Keiss has traveled to 35 counties and attended more than 300 events sharing his love for the state and community. Kiess spoke with Rotary members about his journey to becoming the Mountaineer and the importance of being West Virginia proud.

“At the end of the day that’s what being the Mountaineer is all about is giving back to the community, giving back to the city that has given me so much. As an ambassador for the entire state of West Virginia, not only WVU but the entire state, it’s really important to get out in the state, visit different counties and communities,” said Kiess.

Kiess said he plans to visit all 55 counties and attend more than 100 events before the end of his term as mascot ends in April 2019.
