Ritchie County man accused of murder arrested following manhunt

Police captured a murder suspect after conducting a manhunt for the suspect on Friday.

West Virginia State Police arrested and charged Chester Baughman, 28, of Petroleum for the murder of George Ruble, 26, of Wood County. 

Ruble was allegedly shot during an argument over a can of stolen gasoline at Baughman’s home in Ritchie County, according to court documents.

Ruble’s body was found in the woods along Volcano Road in Ritchie County, troopers said. 

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office posted on their Facebook that they participated in the manhunt along with several other agencies, which included helicopters from the West Virginia State Police and the West Virginia Air Guard.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office said that the suspect was found in the woods in Dallison. 
Baughman is in the North Central Regional Jail.
