Grants help power education, and in our area a recent grant is helping careers take flight.
Through the work of Congressman David McKinley, Senator Shelley Moore Capito, and Senator Joe Manchin, the Power Grant was secured and it will provide funds at the Robert C. Byrd Aerospace Education Center, more than 1.7 million dollars for new resources and technology.
Manchin said improving West Virginia’s workforce was what pushed him to secure the grant.
“We are trying to attract more work cause no one is doing it as good as we are doing it and does as well as we do it continuously. That’s what you learn from basis skills and you have the schools all basically partnering up with the manufacturing teaching what we need in the quality of a work person to go into this field,” said Senator Manchin.
Manchin went on to visit Aurora and Bombardier during his stop in Bridgeport.
