Recent flooding and bridge closure on Route 38 has created a situation for area emergency crews.
Brushy Fork Bridge has been closed less than a mile inside the Tucker County line, and emergency officials have reached out for help. Crews from Barbour and Tucker counties are working together to reach all the residents directly affected by the bridge closure.
“Parsons Fire Department and Tucker County EMS have requested that the Philippi Fire Department and Barbour County Emergency Squad be notified for any event on the other side of the Brushy Fork Bridge due to lack of access to that area,” said Tucker County 911 Director Brett Ware.
Officials say the collaboration is helpful and crews are working to reopen the bridge by July 31.
