The West Virginia Land Trust alongside Friends of the Cheat and Blackwater Outdoor Adventures hosted the third annual Meet the Cheat float trip in Tucker County.
Participants floated the Upper Cheat River Water Trail from Holly Meadows public access point to St. George. Organizers said the event is a great way to get people more involved in river clean up efforts throughout the state.
“We are just trying to get people outside, outside enjoying the river, raise some awareness for the importance of clean water, and we are trying to maybe find some new volunteers to help with water clean up,” said West Virginia Land Trust’s Jessica Spatafore.
More than 300 paddlers came out for the event and enjoyed music, food, and friends after the long day on the river.
