Many would likely say West Virginia is known for its scenic views, and there are many ways to see these gorgeous sites including from the back of a horse.
Mountain Trail Rides Horseback Riding and More is one of the top rated trail riding companies in West Virginia and has been successfully guiding customers for nearly 20 years.
Owner Kim Bennett says it’s the great views and love for animals that has kept them going.
“We’ve got really great horses, really great guides, and a really great trail system with lots of beautiful views,” said Bennett.
This family owned company is all about accommodating the needs of its customers.
“Just this year we started offering a half an hour ride. There’s people that you know, sometimes its that they have smaller children with a short attention span, or you might have someone possibly that’s blind, you know for different reasons they would like a half hour ride,” said Bennett.
Employees say the highlight for most customers during the rides are the variety of trails and the views.
“It’s a variety. You don’t go and come back the same way, you go different trails. You can come several days in a row and we can take you on different trails each time that you come,” said Bennett.
Employee and trail guide, Kerstin Jones, says there are always wild life to be seen throughout the rides.
“You get different scenery around the state park ride. You can see a black bear maybe, a deer you always see a deer, turkeys, or any other wild life,” said Jones.
This farm has nearly 40 horses and all are well trained for anyone to ride.
“99 percent of the time it’s people that have never rode before and the horses know that,” said Jones. “If you have a person that knows how to ride they can tell they’ll act a little bit different, little more spunk to them, but if people are really nervous and scared they take it slow and easy.”
Mountain Trail Rides Horseback Riding and More is open seven days a week and now offering more trails than ever before.
