Shelter cat Emma places in the top eight in Tournament of Tails

Tucker County Animal Shelter earned a spot in the fifth annual Tournament of Tails, and shelter cat Emma placed in “The Eager 8.”

Emma moved up in the bracket-style competition with the help of the Tucker County community and finished in eighth place, winning the shelter $300.

Shelter officials said even though Emma did not win first place the Tournament of Tails is a great way to show off the animals at the shelter.

“We have a lot of vet costs.  Our animals are spayed, neutered, vaccinated.  Some come in with injuries that require additional vetting cost. So, getting our shelter out there, let’s the people know,” said Shelter Director Cathy Parsons.

Emma was up against adoptable shelter animals from much larger areas and gives much-needed exposure for the other animals.

One community member is meeting Emma soon and maybe taking her to a fur-ever home.
