United Hospital Center Orthopedics starts “Friday Night Lights” clinic

With football, soccer and all the fall sports back in action this season, athletes are at risk for injuries.

United Hospital Center Orthopedics in Bridgeport opened its “Friday Night Lights” clinic last week, and will offer it every Friday in the fall from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. at its United Orthopedic and Spine Center, located at 227 Medical Park Drive in Bridgeport.

Doctors said that this clinic allows them to see athletes right after an injury happens, and put a plan in place to get them on the field playing again.

The clinic offers orthopedic specialists on site and is completely separated from the emergency room.

“It is different in a sense that its our orthopedic clinic so if you are coming to see us for an initial evaluation, we have our X-ray and imagery right there in the office. It is comprehensive in regards to our orthopedic care, physical therapy, and also our spine team,” said orthopedic surgeon Chris Courtney.

The United Orthopedic and Spine Center is located to the left of the hospital when turning off of Route 279.
