United Way of Marion County expands to Taylor County

GRAFTON, W.Va. – The United Way of Marion County is expanding into Taylor County, according to organization leaders.

“This is a natural expansion for our organization to bring United Way’s presence to another level in the communities within Taylor County,” said Brett White, Executive Director.  “For over 81 years, we have served Marion County by providing funding, programming and other services to improve the quality of life of everyone in our community and I look forward to building on that now in Taylor County.”

The expansion will be effective July 1, 2019 with the name officially  changing to United Way of Marion and Taylor Counties.

Fairmont Federal Credit Union celebrated the expansion with a gift to United Way of $1,939. The bank, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, presented the gift in honor of their founding year, 1939. “We are proud to partner with United Way and are very excited to jumpstart the Taylor County fundraising with this gift,” commented Cindy Dickey, CEO.

White also introduced the Campaign Chairs that will lead the first ever combined campaign this fall, Patrick and Amy Snively. The fall’s campaign, which begins in August, will work to raise $500,000 with a theme of “Better Together.”

“We are so proud to be leading the campaign efforts this fall,” remarked Patrick Snively. “The work being done in our communities is critical to helping our neighbors lead successful lives. We are thrilled to bring Taylor County into our family.”

The organization has visited with several nonprofit organizations throughout Taylor County and has spent the last three months learning and hearing from individuals who care about the needs of the community.

“Taylor County is looking forward to working with the United Way to ensure a brighter future for everyone that lives and works in our beautiful county,” added Christine Miller, Superintendent of Taylor County Schools and United Way board member. “Working together, we will truly be Better Together.”
