UPDATE: 2 people dead after shooting incident in Taylor County


UPDATE (4/8/19 6:35 p.m.):

Taylor County Sheriff Terry Austin said a man died at the scene, and a woman died at Ruby Memorial Hospital after Monday’s shooting incident.

The man was identified as 58-year-old Kenneth Cottrell and the woman was identified as 41-year-old Angela Bittinger, according to West Virginia State Police.

Austin said there was a third person in the trailer who called 911 but was not injured.  This person is not believed to be a suspect.

The crime scene team was still at the trailer at 4:30 Monday afternoon and was expected to be there for a couple more hours, according to Austin.  Once the team finishes its investigation, Austin said authorities will release the names of the people involved.

West Virginia State Police are investigating an incident that happened in Taylor County.

911 dispatched multiple emergency crews to Spring Hill Acres off of Tappan Road in Boothsville just after 10 a.m. on Monday.

HealthNet was called, it then landed at Middletown Mall, and transported one person to a hospital, according to 911 dispatchers.

Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, Boothsville Volunteer Fire Department, and state police all responded.
