TENNERTON, W.Va. – Two people were arrested in Upshur County after deputies were called to awaken them in a parking lot.
Upshur County deputies were called to the Tractor Supply store in Tennerton on a call that two people were unable to be woken up by employees at the store, according to a criminal complaint. When deputies and EMS arrived, they were successful in waking the two adults, according to the sheriff’s department.
Deputies identified the two adults in the vehicle as Codey Jones, 29, and Ciera Jones, 25, both of Rock Cave, and they also saw a small, nude child in the back seat of the vehicle, according to the complaint. When deputies viewed the interior of the car, they found a syringe on the dashboard containing methamphetamine, according to the complaint.
A search of the vehicle also revealed there was a small change purse within reach of the child containing an Oxycodone pill, which Ciera Jones admitted was hers. Ciera Jones also stated that she did use the pills, however, she did not have a prescription, according to the complaint. Deputies also found used needles throughout the vehicle, which were also in reach of the child, according to the sheriff’s department.
Ciera Jones and Codey Jones are charged with child neglect creating risk of injury and possession of a controlled substance. They are in Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
