Area volunteers host annual Christmas Store

For nearly thirty years, the Upshur County community has banded to together to provide a Christmas store for low-income families.

Each year, businesses, residents and organizations volunteer their time, money and supplies to host a week-long shopping event for families.  For the first week in December, volunteers meet at the Moose Lodge in Buckhannon, and are reminded of why the holiday season is so special.

“The true meaning of Christmas is giving.  We have a lot of good people, volunteers and businesses that help us.  It is just a great feeling to be part of something greater than yourself,” said Upshur County Christmas Store President Curtis Howes.

The Christmas Store provides free winter clothing, decorations, stocking stuffers and more.  Families can still sign up to participate in the holiday event.
