BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Buckhannon has also been named a ‘Bicycle Friendly City’ by the League of American Bicyclists.
The city earned an honorable mention award from the organization thanks to bike-friendly laws, and the inclusion of places for bikers to travel throughout the city.
Officials said biking is becoming a more popular way to travel around the city.
“I think it’s becoming more and more popular. We do have the new bike racks on out Main Street as well, as well as around the community, and we know that [West Virginia] Wesleyan College, which is right in town, is starting a bikeshare program this fall,” said city Grant Writer Callie Cronin-Sams.
Recent improvements to city sidewalks have also helped to make a difference to bikers in the city.
