The city of Buckhannon officially christened its newest addition to its utility system this afternoon.
City officials held a ribbon cutting in town to mark the activation of a new water tank for the city.
The new structure holds more than one-million gallons of water, adding 600-thousand gallons to the city’s capacity.
City officials said the new tank doesn’t just help current residents, it also positions the city for economic growth in the future.
“We expect, as Corridor H continues to expand and new business continues in downtown on Main Street, that we’ll be able to be ready for increased development and business here in the area,” said city grant writer Callie Cronin Sams
The new tank sits next to the city’s current facility on the south side of town.
