The Fearless Fools under the umbrella of the Vintage Theatre Company kicked off the fifth West Virginia Comedy Festival Friday night at the Buckhannon Opera House.
Attendees could watch three styles of comedy, stand-up comedians, humorous storytellers, and improv sketch comedy. The festival offered up many laughs and enjoyment for the residents of Upshur County and other attendees from around the Mountain State.
“West Virginians are story tellers, it is something that is culturally inherent in Appalachia, and I think comedy is a lot about story telling right. So, it’s a lot about seeing a situation and viewing it through a perspective or viewing it through a lens where you can find the humor in anything,” said Jason A. Young, Co-founder of the West Virginia Comedy Festival.
The purpose of the festival is to celebrate West Virginia comedians and the comedy in the state. Performers at the festival is either currently living in the state or native to West Virginia.
