Candidates for the Buckhannon City Council and city recorder met with the community at West Virginia Wesleyan College.

The open forum allowed community members to directly ask candidates questions about their platform.

Candidates at the forum included:

  • John David Thomas, City Council re-election
  • Mary Albaugh, City Council re-election
  • Robert Osburn, City Council candidate

The event was also streamed live through Facebook, and viewers at home were able to send in questions for the candidates.

School safety, senior citizens and opioid were among the topics discussed.

“Well the goal is to get people to really understand and get to know the candidates they have to think on their feet these are things that they’re gonna have to respond too. Just get out and vote, understand the issues, vote for the person that you think lines up with the way feel about the same issues,” said Keith Buchanan, moderator.

Elections will be held on May 8.
