An Upshur County car dealership made a big donation to an area school on Tuesday.
Jenkins Ford in Buckhannon donated a low-mileage car to the driver’s education program at Buckhannon-Upshur High School. The vehicle will replace the oldest of the two vehicles in the school’s fleet.
Both school and dealership staff say the partnership between the two was a great fit.
“A car like this is very expensive, and for a high school to purchase something like this, it’s something that you have to keep those old cars for such a a long time until it’s time to replace them,” said Upshur County Superintendent Sara Stankus.
“The kids are where it’s at. If you do it for the right reasons, and the right reasons are for the kids and for the youth, that’s all that matters,” said Jenkins Manager Dennis Crawford
Students and staff at the school were able to get behind the wheel as they left this afternoon.
