New Buckhannon fire chief working to raise department’s profile

Upshur

Buckhannon’s newest fire chief has not officially been on the job for a week yet, but he has already been working to promote the department.

Fire Chief J.B. Kimble has been working to raise the department’s profile in the county.

Kimble said the department has a solid foundation of skilled firefighters already, and now many are trained as EMTs, allowing the department to answer more medical calls than before.

“That’s something that we haven’t done in the past that we’ve been progressing on.  We were taking on one type of call at a time to see how many more calls it involved, and now we’re to the full spectrum and we’re running all the medical calls in the city limits now,” said Kimble.

Wednesday was the first day the department began handling the full range of calls
