Upshur County BOE host community forum in superintendent selection process

Upshur County Board of Education is in the search for a superintendent of schools.

On Thursday night, the BOE hosted an open community forum at Buckhannon-Upshur High School where the top three candidates for superintendent could answer questions that the public had submitted. The BOE said they are looking for someone who can come in and be a face for the community.

“This has never been done in the county, but we want to be transparent with the community and make them part of the search. So we put out a notice to teachers, service personnel, the newspaper, and to the all the local organizations and asked them to submit questions,” said Tammy Samples, President of the Upshur County Board of Education.

Also, the BOE is getting ready for a school board levy renewal and having a superintendent that can be out in the public is important to the BOE. One of the three candidates will be selected as superintendent soon.
