A man was arrested for multiple felonies after deputies said he allegedly beat the victim with a gun, severely strangled her and threatened to kill her.
Earnest Chapman III was taken into custody by Fayette County Deputies Thursday evening.
Deputies said they received a call Thursday afternoon of a possible domestic incident at the Dairy Queen in Montgomery.
When they arrived, they found Chapman’s wife who had employees call 911, claiming he had been holding her captive and beating her with a gun.
She also claimed he had been using meth for four days.
Deputies found Chapman in the car passed out with a .38 caliber revolver in the car.
He was taken to Montgomery General Hospital.
Deputies discovered Chapman had a previous conviction on domestic violence, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm.
Chapman was charged with kidnapping, brandishing a deadly weapon, and domestic battery among other charges.
He is being held in the Southern Regional Jail.
