Four W. Va. cities in top 15 least drunk cities in America

According To A Review By 24/7 Wall Street, which looked at excessive drinking rates in 381 metro areas, four of the top 15 least drunk cities in America are in West Virginia.

Here are the four cities and how they ranked:

14. Huntington, W.Va.

  • Pct. adults drinking to excess: 12.6 percent
  • Pct. driving deaths involving alcohol: 26.5 percent
  • Est. number of restaurants and bars: 574 (159.6 per 100,000)
  • Median household income: $42,420

8. Parkersburg-Vienna, W.Va.

  • Pct. adults drinking to excess: 12.2 percent
  • Pct. driving deaths involving alcohol: 30.6 percent
  • Est. number of restaurants and bars: 194 (214.2 per 100,000)
  • Median household income: $46,594

5. Charleston, W.Va.

  • Pct. adults drinking to excess: 11.1 percent
  • Pct. driving deaths involving alcohol: 28.7 percent
  • Est. number of restaurants and bars: 405 (184.4 per 100,000)
  • Median household income: $41,689

3. Beckley, W.Va.

  • Pct. adults drinking to excess: 10.8 percent
  • Pct. driving deaths involving alcohol: 27.9 percent
  • Est. number of restaurants and bars: 179 (148.0 per 100,000)
  • Median household income: $44,178

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 18 percent of American adults drink excessively.

Green Bay, Wisconsin tops the list of drunkest cities with 26.5 percent of adults drinking excessively and Provo-Orem, Utah is the driest city with only 8.5 percent of adults drinking excessively.
