The Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man who allegedly strangled and sexually assaulted his girlfriend.
According to a criminal complaint, Roger D. Blankenship, 22, is charged with 2nd Degree Sexual Assault and Strangulation.
On December 23, 2017, Blankenship was involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend due to her refusal to engage in a sexual act with him.
Blankenship then reportedly became violent, strangling his girlfriend until she was unable to breathe, and threatened to kill her.
He then forced himself on her without her consent. She then was able to escape Blankenship and alerted authorities.
Deputies arrested Blankenship on December 23, 2017.
