A man is wanted by deputies after reportedly carjacking a vehicle from a store in Chapmanvillle at gunpoint that later was reported to be traveling in the Charleston area.
According to deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, at around 10:30 p.m. deputies in Kanawha County spotted the stolen vehicle near the McDonald’s on the 3300 block of MacCorkle Avenue in Kanawha City.
Deputies requested additional units before approaching the vehicle.
Robbie Aaron Browning, 29, of Chapmanville, is identified as the man in the vehicle.
Browning spotted the cruiser and pulled into the parking area of the restaurant, where he exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Deputies chased the suspect but lost him in the area of CAMC Memorial Hospital.
CAMC Memorial Hospital’s security staff were notified that the suspect was in the area and was possibly armed.
Members of the Charleston Police Department, the West Virginia State Police, and the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area to assist in locating Aaron Browning.
After a lengthy search of the area, Robbie Aaron Browning evaded capture.
Robbie Aaron Browning was last seen wearing a black colored windbreaker and a dark colored “dew” rag.
He should be considered armed and dangerous.
The lockdown at CAMC Memorial Hospital has been lifted, according to dispatchers.
Deputies say if you see Robbie Aaron Browning please do not approach him. Call 911 to report his location.
CAMC Memorial Division, in Kanawha City is currently on lockdown.
An armed car-jacking suspect is on the loose either in or around the hospital.
Kanawha County Deputy Sheriff’s executed a traffic stop on a car that was reported car-jacked at gunpoint in Logan, W.Va.
The suspect stopped and fled on foot toward the hospital.
Police are currently searching the area in and around the hospital.
