Troopers have a suspect in custody after a body was found concealed in a vehicle in Cabell County.

According to the West Virginia State Police, at roughly 5 p.m. Tuesday, a man told troopers that he had stabbed a man to death near the Martha Road in Cabell County.

The suspect, identified as Brian Bragg, 30, of Milton, provided conflicting information to police when questioned about the whereabouts of the body.

That same evening, at 9 p.m., investigating officers were alerted of a wrecked vehicle in the Barker’s Ridge Road area of Ona.

Police located the vehicle and matched it to a description of a vehicle registered to Bragg.

It was in that vehicle that they discovered the body.

The victim was identified as Michael Sutphin, according to a criminal complaint.

Police say that Sutphin’s body appeared to have been in the vehicle for an extended period of time given that it was “completely frozen” and covered with debris.

The body has been transported to the WV State Coroner’s Office.

Bragg was then arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Concealing a Body.

He is now being held at Western Regional Jail without bond.
