One person is dead following a semi explosion on Interstate-77 Monday morning.
West Virginia Turnpike Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer died after he lost control of the semi and crashed into the median.
Troopers said the accident happened around 12:30 a.m. near mile marker 41 on I-77 South.
The name of the driver is not being released until family is notified but troopers said he is from Hubbard, Ohio.
The semi was carrying industrial metal parts when it crashed. Officials said large metal parts went into the roadway, causing damage to another vehicle that had to be towed.
Crews spent several hours Monday morning working to clear the scene.

RALEIGH COUNTY, W. Va. (WVNS) — Emergency crews responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 77 Monday morning.
Dispatchers said the the call came in shortly after midnight for a vehicle or truck fire at mile marker 42.
JanCare Ambulance, Mabscott Fire Department and West Virginia Turnpike Police responded to the scene.
West Virginia Turnpike Police are handling the investigation. At this time, it’s unclear if any injuries were reported.
