The WVU Extension Service is looking for help with one of its most important programs for West Virginia kids this summer.

The extension is recruiting AmeriCorps staff members and volunteers to help with Energy Express programs around the area.  The program promotes reading during the summer months, and it also provides meals for students during the sessions.

Extension agents said these staff members are vital to the program.

“So, it’s critical we have those volunteers.  If we only find a few, it directly impacts how many kids we can serve in the program,” said Bruce Lloyd, extension agent for Lewis County.
