Body Found

UPDATE 6/8/2018 @ 3 p.m.:  The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the person who was found near the Comer Electric Building in Sprague.  The body was identified at Terry Clark Kennedy, Jr., 34, of Sprague.

The cause of death has not been determined. Kennedy’s body was taken to the Office of the State Medical Examiner.

UPDATE 6/7/2018 @ 5:30 p.m.  Raleigh County lieutenant M.A. McCray and investigating deputies are amazed the body was just lying alongside one of Beckley’s busiest roads.

“The location to find something like this is not common,” McCray said.  “But it is something that you wouldn’t expect to find.”

But he says the body was well hidden from view.

“If you weren’t looking in the right spot, then it may be something that you wouldn’t notice just passing by,” McCray said.

While the state medical examiner’s office performs an autopsy to establish a cause of death, investigators are not ruling out foul play.

“You do see things that may be you’ve never seen before,” McCray said.  “But… there’s always a common ground.”
