The West Virginia Division of Highways has announced a lane closure on I-79 northbound from Exit 136 (Downtown Fairmont) to Exit 139 (East Fairmont, Prickett’s Creek Road) for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The lane closure will last from Tuesday, October 30 at 8 p.m. until Wednesday, October 31 at 6 p.m.
A lane closure had originally been scheduled for Exit 136 to Exit 139 on I-79 northbound and southbound from August 20 to October 19 between the hours 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. The purpose for the lane closure was to latex overlay the existing bridge structure at Exit 137 (East Park Avenue).
The lane closure has been extended to Tuesday evening until Wednesday evening to continue the latex overlay work at the bridge structure at Exit 137 (East Park Avenue).
I-79 northbound will be narrowed to a single 12-foot-wide lane for the overlay project. The fast (left) lane will be closed, and the slow (right) lane will remain open to traffic northbound.
Drivers are advised to use caution, expect delays, plan ahead and allow additional time for their commute. Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances could cause this project schedule to change.
