Andrew Sponaugle sets RCB and meet discus record at Harry Green Statewide Invitational

Sports

Andrew Sponaugle not only set his personal and the Robert C. Byrd boys discus record, he also set the Harry Green Statewide Invitational record for the event Saturday afternoon in Bridgeport.

Sponaugle set the mark at 157 feet and nine inches, passing the previous record held by Eagle Travis Coleman by three feet. Coleman set the record in 2005 at the same event.

Fairmont Senior’s Zach Frazier finished second in that competition. RCB competitors claimed three of the top four spots in that event.

In other events, Bridgeport’s Jackson Jacobs coasted to a win in the boys 3200 meter finals.
