The Black Bears and Pirates have reached an agreement to extend their Player Development Contract for two more years, keeping the single-A team a Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate through the year 2020.

The Black Bears have served as the Pirate’s Short Season Single-A Affiliate in the New York-Penn League since it’s inaugural season in 2015.

“We are excited to continue our relationship with the Pittsburgh Pirates for two more years,” said Black Bears General Manager Matthew Drayer. “They have provided the Black Bears with outstanding talent and high-character prospects that have given their time to the Morgantown community to make it a better place to live.”

The Black Bears will wrap up their 2018 home-opening series with the State College Spikes on Saturday.
