Polar Bears pummel Point Pleasant, advance to state semifinal game

High School Sport

For the 4th straight season, Fairmont Senior is headed to the state semifinal game, after a dominant 66-13 victory over the Point Pleasant Big Blacks Saturday afternoon at East-West Stadium.

The Polar Bears’ victory, combined with Weir’s win over Nicholas County on Saturday, means the Red Riders get another crack at the number one team in the class next weekend in Fairmont. The Polar Bears took care of Weir in week seven, 43-13, but since that game in early October, the Red Riders have won five straight, including Saturday’s 63-43 win over a Nicholas County team tha came into the game undefeated.

Weir and Fairmont Senior will square off in the semifinals, with the winner punching its ticket to Wheeling the following week.
