Lincoln softball hands Bridgeport first loss of the year

The Lincoln softball team handed Bridgeport its first loss of the season Wednesday night thanks to an early offensive attack and stellar defense.

Madilyn Andrick made a diving stop at shortstop early in the game, and then freshman Macie Hardman went full extension in left field in the fourth inning to rob Emily Riggs of an extra-base hit.

Yancey Weaver spoke about his team’s solid effort after the game.

“Our bats showed up today real big for us, especially in the first couple innings. We hit the ball well. I thought Courtney on the mound today, with the tough lineup and hitting like they have, I thought she pitched an excellent game, and she was pretty good at hitting her spots today. So hats off to her, proud of the way she threw tonight,” he said.

Lincoln moves to 13-4 on the year.
