The Pirates send RHP prospect, Daniel Zamora and cash considerations to the Mets, Wednesday, in exchange for pitcher Josh Smoker. Smoker pitched to the tune of a 5.11 ERA for New York last season.
Meanwhile, Zamora boasted a 1.86 ERA in single-A Bradenton in 2017, while making the Florida State League All-Star team. Zamora also pitched in Morgantown in 2015 and 2016, throwing 59.1 innings and striking out 70.
Smoker has two roster options, meaning the Pirates are able to send him to Triple-A Indianapolis if he doesn’t make the major league roster out of Spring Training.
