Salem University is set to host the Route 50 Rumble this Saturday at the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium
The pro-am boxing event will feature some boxers making their debut in the ring, but also some experience boxers like Keith Barr and Samantha Pill.
“She’s the main event. We have Heather Moran, who’s a three-time Toughman champion. Haley Bishop – two-time Toughman champion. Gabe Lambert as well. Zack Randolph is going to be making his pro debut. And I will be fighting for the Cruiserweight Title,” said Barr.
Barr is scheduled to be the fourth bout with Pill scheduled to be the main event.
Also competing Saturday will be a few Salem athletes. And even though the Tigers boxers may be amatuers, but they do have a background in boxing.
“We have men’s soccer, men’s basketball, we have a couple men’s swimmers, actually and a men’s water polo player. I guess it’s really big for these students in Europe, their boxing. It’s something that a lot of them have backgrounds in actually. Jessie Pistokache is his name. His dad actually owns a boxing facility in Texas” said Salem Assistant Athletic Director, Alex Joseph.
The event will be held inside the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium on the Salem Campus starting at 7:30 p.m.
Gates will open at 6 o’clock saturday night.
