Jadyn Davis, the fourth-ranked quarterback in the Class of 2024 according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, revealed his long-awaited college decision on Friday, announcing on SportsCenter that he has committed to play for Michigan and coach John Harbaugh.
“Can’t wait to call Ann Arbor my home for the next 3-4 years,” Davis told ESPN’s Adam Schefter in a text. “Everything from my relationship with the guys on the team currently, coaching staff, academics, and scheme went into this decision. I’d run through a wall for Coach Harbaugh. We’re going to win a lot of games and multiple championships. I can’t wait to get to work!”
A highly-touted five-star recruit at Providence Day School in Charlotte, N.C, Davis, picked the Wolverines over a host of other offers, including Alabama, Tennessee and Penn State, to name a few. The 17-year-old dual-threat QB, who is entering his senior season, has been engaged in the recruiting process since he was 13, and told ESPN on Friday his decision was about academics just as much as football.
“If you graduate with a degree from Michigan, you’re almost set for success,” Davis said. “My mom and dad have always been ’no books, no ball’ and education tops the charts in their mind.”
Standing at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Davis is coming off a stellar junior season, where he racked up 3,425 yards and 43 touchdowns while completing 221 of his 305 pass attempts. Davis was named the Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year and North Carolina’s Mr. Football, and also led Providence Day to the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I state championship.
With the news of Davis’s commitment already generating ample buzz, the Wolverines made it clear they are super stoked for his arrival next year. Michigan offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore, ahead of his first season as full-time OC, shared his excitement about his new QB in a tweet, while the team’s official Twitter later tweeted a video of Harbaugh and his staff’s reaction to landing Davis.
