The Webster County boys’ basketball team is one of just two teams in the state with a zero in the loss column.

Sitting at 19-0, the Highlanders are now the top-ranked team in Single-A according to the latest WV AP Boys Basketball Poll.

Webster County is one of three area teams ranked in Single-A, followed by (2) Notre Dame and (7) Trinity. The Irish fell one spot after suffering just its third loss of the year last week.

The University boys remained at No. 3, while the Mohigans from Morgantown are ranked eighth this week in the Triple-A rankings.

In Double-A, Fairmont Senior remains the second-ranked team in the state. No. 7 Bridgeport also stayed put, while (8) Robert C. Byrd moved up one spot from last week.

The Fairmont Senior Lady Polar Bears also stayed No. 2, keeping the same ranking once again ahead of No. 3 North Marion. It should be noted these rankings were voted on prior to Monday night’s win for the Huskies over Fairmont Senior.

Lincoln’s girls’ hoops team fell to No. 7 in the Double-A rankings, while Bridgeport received votes to be ranked.

In Triple-A, the University girls rose up one spot to No. 3, and (8) Morgantown stayed at the same spot.

There was no movement amongst area teams in the Single-A Girls poll, with (9) Trinity and (10) Tucker County staying put.
