After its third consecutive series win in Big 12 Conference play, WVU baseball has earned a spot in a national poll this week.
The Mountaineers check in at No. 20 in the D1Baseball Top 25, their first national ranking of the season.
After beginning league play with four losses in a row, the Mountaineers have taken two of three from nationally ranked Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech in succession to improve their conference record to 6-6. WVU is also 22-13 overall, including 11-2 at home.
“We were 0-4 in the league not too long ago, and now we’re 6-6 and right in the thick of the race,” said Mazey. “Now we’ve got tiebreakers over three really good teams, if that comes down to it.”
WVU plays at Penn State Wednesday, then returns home for a weekend series with Kansas that begins Friday. The Mountaineers have won their last five non-conference games.
