The Bridgeport Public Library hosted its books and barks event this afternoon.
This gives children the opportunity to read to therapy dogs.
This is a unique approach to improve literacy skills for children.
The event is made possible through Mountaineer Therapy Dogs.
“I just think, it just gives them an opportunity to have someone who is non-judgemental, plus there’s no stress. You just get get rid of your stress when you get to visit with a dog and love on a dog and play with a dog and it’s just a great experience,” Michele Marshall, Mountaineer Therapy Dogs.
The event is held the first Saturday of every month.
