The Clarksburg History Museum unveiled its new sign on Saturday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The museum features several exhibits, including one on the history of the Clarksburg area hospitals, on on the Clarksburg Fire Department and one on local schools.
Famous people and landmarks from the area will also be highlighted. Staff say they would like to begin organizing school field trips to the museum in the fall to teach children historical information they may not have previously known.
“We feel that we have a lot of history here in Clarksburg, Civil War history; we have a lot of people, places and events in our city and we feel that our citizens and our students especially don’t really have a large background on the history of our city,” said Michael Spatafore, chairperson of the museum committee.
The museum will be open on the first weekend of every month.
