Clarksburg’s Day of Hope informs those struggling with addiction on how to get help

Saturday in Clarksburg, a local church was the site for a Day of Hope event.

The event was sponsored by Clarksburg Mission Sober Living, and the Harrison County Recovery Coach Association.

Speakers talked about the help that those dealing with addiction can receive, and some talked about their own paths through addiction.

One speaker in particular talked about a state-wide help line that has helped numerous people through West Virginia, and has inspired other states, like Pennsylvania, to follow suit.

“The help line has been a huge help, and we were really pleased that she was here to speak. We’ve heard some testimony today of folks that are in recovery, and that’s been good.  Again, we’re trying to promote hope in all sorts of ways,” said Lou Ortenzio, Clarksburg Mission Ministry Director.

That help line connects someone struggling with addiction to the nearest detox center with an available bed, with the hope of getting the person in the center that night.

The number to contact is 1-844-HELP4WV or 1-844-4357-4-98.
