On Saturday, the annual Morgantown Shootout hosted by Operation Welcome Home and Mon Health Cancer Center offered a full day of festivities and comradery.

Defense in Depth offered their range the shootout and offers opportunities for safe shooting training. Participants had the opportunity to shoot firearms provided by Defense in Depth. All the proceeds raised from the shootout will benefit Mon Health Cancer Center and Operation Welcome Home.

“It’s just a great venue to have everybody sit around tell stories and communicate on the same level, you know being in the same places, telling stories about where they’ve been and what they did. And basically, for a lack of a better phrase, being able to speak the same language,” Brett Simpson, CEO of Operation Welcome Home.

Operation Welcome home offers resume writing classes, mock interview classes, open interview sessions, job fairs to name a few of the services provided to veterans.

“It’s heartwarming to see that the community wants to get together to benefit, donate, enter raffles, all to just help fund our organization, they believe in us, they know we do good work, so they come here and do whatever they can to help support us, so it’s good to see,” said Tyler Lane, Program Manager of Operation Welcome Home.

Operation Welcome home said the opportunity to have the shootout said that it is indoors with 16 different firing bays. Attendees had opportunities to fire weapons sold by Defense in Depth shooting different weapons.
