Stepping Stones in Monongalia County offered a night of family fun Tuesday while raising awareness about autism.

‘Light it up Blue’ is an international event to put Autism Awareness on the forefront of people’s minds during the month of April. Stepping Stones offered games, snacks, pet pony, arts and crafts, and music to allow parents to meet one another while gaining knowledge about autism.

Many places in Monongalia County were lit in blue for the cause.

“The NeuroDevelopment Center at WVU Children’s decided to have a county wide celebration, and invite everybody in the county who is working with kids with autism, and also all the families who want to come, to come out and celebrate autism and awareness around the state and around the county,” said Susannah Poe, Director of Applied Behavior Analysis Services for WVU Hospital.

Representatives from WVU Hospitals said ‘Light it up Blue’ is growing within the state and want people to think about autism and how they can support those with autism.
