The West Virginia Department of Transportation is currently working on its 2020 to 2025 statewide transportation improvement program.

On Tuesday night, in Westover the department of transportation held a meeting at Mountain Line Transit Authority. Residents of Monongalia County had the opportunity to meet with state planning officials looking at the federal program for transportation.

That program includes living documents containing projects by county that will be completed using federal dollars.

“The citizens that drive the last mile, and those last miles a lot of times where we don’t always get out, we don’t always know, or even the mobility where people are trying to get from point A to point B. We’re not quite as in tune as some of the general public that might be doing this on a daily basis,” said Perry Keller, Section Head for Statewide Planning.

Statewide planners say there are several large projects in various areas around the Mountain State, as well as Maintenace programs on secondary roads throughout the state.
