Webster County High School seniors participated on Monday in college decision day.
Representatives from colleges, workforce training programs and the military were present and speeches were given by Dr. Carolyn Long of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and Dr. Mirta Martin, President of Fairmont State University.
This event was intended to encourage students to pursue higher education or to receive training after high school.
“Events like this in such rural settings also go to help our underclassmen as well see the value in pursuing education and training, whatever kind of education and training that might be, beyond high school whether it’s college, trade, technical school, military, apprenticeship or some kind of workforce based training,” said WCHS Gear Up coordinator Jonas Knotts.
