StormTracker 12 Weather Forecast

Mostly Sunny Monday

The projected track of the major winter storm shifted the slightest bit north last night leading to increased snowfall amounts across southern West Virginia. Some stray flurries tried to brush the southern part of the viewing area this afternoon. However, the dry air in place mainly restricted snowfall across north-central West Virginia. Therefore, it's been dry and mainly cloudy. Heading further south, the Charleston area saw 2-3" of snow by this afternoon. Meanwhile, areas around Beckley saw 10-12" of snow.

The system will gradually pull away from the state overnight tonight. Therefore, north-central West Virginia will remain dry overnight with cloud cover decreasing as the system moves out. Lows will once again drop into the teens and 20s across the region tonight. However, winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings will remain in effect for the southern half of West Virginia into Monday morning. The region staying under winter headlines could see up to an additional 5-7" of snowfall tonight.

The system will have moved eastward and out of the vicinity by Monday taking any impacts with it. Temperatures look to return to December averages especially by the middle of next week. Mainly sunny skies will be seen Monday. Mostly sunny and dry conditions will shine across the area Tuesday as high pressure builds back in for the middle of the week.

Clouds will be on the increase throughout Wednesday and temperatures will be seasonal with highs in the mid-40s. We could see our next chance for showers Thursday. Skies will be mostly cloudy with the slight chance for an isolated shower. Rain looks to continue into the end of the work week. Although it'll be rainy and gloomy Friday temperatures look to reach 50 degrees. Cloudy skies and scattered showers look to continue into the weekend.
