WBOY STORMTRACKER 12 WEATHER SYNOPSIS:
After a wet and dreary case of the Mondays, that weird feeling is moving out of here, at least for the next couple of days. High pressure from the Midwestern US is influencing our weather today and tomorrow with plenty of sunshine after the remnants of yesterday's moisture pushes out this morning. Temperatures will jump into the 40s for the mountain counties and 50s for the lowlands this afternoon as we'll let the sun shine in and allow all of north-central West Virginia to get some Vitamin D. Because of the clear skies, all the daytime heating that will build throughout the day will escape dropping the overnight temperatures into the 20s.
The temps will bounce back as the high moves through the Ohio Valley allowing for warmer air to pump in from the east and south. That advection of moisture and warm air will allow for a few more clouds and will let us land on both sides of 60-degree temperatures for your Hump Day.
Clouds will increase Thursday with an isolated shower chance as a low pressure system approaches the area into the latter half of the week. It will feel more humid throughout the region with more clouds and shower chances through Saturday as temperatures will be in the 60s and could near 70 before cold air marches in Sunday and drops us to the 30s by Sunday evening. That colder air will transition some of that weekend precipitation from rain to a wintry mix and snow for our mountain counties. Another potential system could move in bringing a mix of rain and snow to kick off the month of April on Monday.
