Friday (Dec. 28)
The 11th Annual Celebration of Lights will conclude at Morris Park in Fairmont on Friday. Families have been able to drive though 1.3 miles of over 420 beautiful Christmas Lights displays each Friday, Saturday and Sunday in December, and the celebration will conclude for the year on December 28. Saturday (Dec. 29)
The West Virginia University Women’s Basketball team will play Niagara University on Saturday at the WVU Coliseum. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. For more information on the WVU Women’s Basketball team, visit wvillustrated.com.
Sunday (Dec. 30)
The Lehigh Mountain Hawks Men’s Basketball team will soar to Morgantown to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers Men’s Basketball team at the WVU Coliseum on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. For more information on the WVU Men’s Basketball team, visit wvillustrated.com.
Monday (Dec. 31 New Year’s Eve)
The ‘New Year’s Eve at Sagebrush Round Up’ kicks off at 5 p.m. on Saturday on Bunner Ridge Road in Fairmont. The community is invited to come out for a great evening of music, dancing, food, games and more.
The “A Night at the Hippodrome” New Year’s Eve Ball, promises to be the party of the year as Grafton comes alive for the occasion. A Great Gatsby theme will add a touch of glamour and flair to the occasion, so everyone is encouraged to dress to impress with 1920’s inspired attire! The event will be held from 8 p.m. – 12 a.m. at the St. Augustine Social Center in Grafton. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Manos Theatre Restoration Project.
The “Crafts & Laughs” New Years Eve Fundraiser event will be held at Mountain State Brewing Company in Morgantown on Monday. This event will begin at 8 p.m. and offer Improv Comedy featuring The Fearless Fools, craft beer from Mountain State Brewing Company, a pizza and appetizer buffet with some of Mountain State’s most popular food, cupcakes from The Cupcakerie and a champagne toast to ring in 2019.
Canaan Valley Resort will host a New Years Eve Celebration at the resort on Monday from 5 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. People are invited to spend the day on the slopes skiing, riding or tubing. Attendees can dine on the delicious buffet in the Hickory Room, then join a party to celebrate the New Year.
Main Street Yoga in Fairmont will host a New Year’s Eve Morning Practice on Monday from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. People are invited to attend the last studio class of the year and end 2018 on a high note.
Tuesday (Jan. 1 New Year’s Day)
The New Year Snowshoe Discovery Tour will be held on New Year’s Day on Weis Knob Ski Road in Davis. This event will feature a natural history snowshoe walk with Chip Chase as he talks about the history of local skiing, quirky climate facts, railroad history and the environmental battle for Canaan Valley vs. the Power Company.
