Friday – Monday (Feb 15 – 18)

Frostburn 2019 will be held in Masontown, a short distance from Morgnatown, from Friday until Monday. Frostburn is a music and arts festival that is filled with music, art, fire, dancing, food and other cold weather fun each President’s Day weekend in February. Ticket information can be found here.

Friday (Feb 15)

The Davisson Brothers WV Valentine Celebration will be held at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in Clarksburg on Friday. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and performances will begin at 6:20 p.m. The evening will feature Chris Janson and two sets by the Davisson Brothers Band. West Virginia Wesleyan College is teaming up with Stonewall Jackson State Park to host the next ‘Universe in the Park’ event on Friday. This event is a great opportunity to educate the public about stars and highlight area state parks.

The 2019 Cupid Shuffle will be held at the Jane Lew Volunteer Fire Department on Friday at 6 p.m. $11,000 in cash will be given away at this event as well as side raffles and games of chance. Tickets are $30, food and drink included. 

Cupid’s Pool Bash will be held at the Harrison County YMCA on Friday from 8 – 11 p.m. This event is for students in 6th to 8th grades. Admission is $7. For more information contact Brittan Hughes at 304-623-3303, or bhughes@harrisoncountyymca.org.

The WVU Planetarium will be hosting a Black History Month Show on Saturday at 7 p.m. This free show will feautre several scientists who have made great strides in their respective fields and is a great opportunity to learn about and celebrate black history. The event will be held at the WVU Planetarium located in White Hall on WVU’s Downtown Campus.

Saturday (Feb 16)

The West Virginia Wesleyan College Planetarium will host its second public show of February on Saturday at 8 p.m. Saturday’s show is titled “Solar Quest.”  The planetarium hosts public shows on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Showtimes last about one hour and admission is $3 for adults, $2 for students/seniors, and are free for children under 18 when accompanied by an adult. More information can be found here.

The North Central Athletics Competition Showcase will be held at North Central Athletics in Clarksburg on Saturday at 10: 30 a.m. This event will showcase the skill of all-star cheerleaders. Doors open at 10:25 a.m. and admission is $5. 

The West Virginia University Women’s Basketball Team will host TCU on Saturday at the WVU Coliseum. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. For everything on the Mountaineers Women’s Basketball Team, visit wvillustrated.com.

The 11th Annual Prince & Princess Party will be held at the Mountaineer Mall in Morgantown on Saturday at 10 a.m. Attendees are invited to bring their children to meet their favorite fairytale characters, play games and make arts and crafts. Ticket pricing information can be found here.

The Elkins Wedding Expo will be held at Graceland Inn in Elkins on Saturday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Brides-to-be will be able to participate in the full wedding preparation experience and enjoy  an array of vendors, delicious hors d’oeuvres, discounts, giveaways and much more.

Sunday (Feb. 17)

The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh will be celebrating Black History Month with a performance of “Let My People Go: A Spiritual Journey Along the Underground Railroad” at the WVU Creative Arts Center on Sunday. The performance is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.  General Admission tickets start at $24 and WVU student tickets start at $10.

The Cultural Foundation Ivory Evenings performance will be held at Waldomore in Clarksburg on Sunday. The event will begin at 2 p.m.

Defense in Depth is hosting a Super Smash Brothers Tournament in their simulator room at their location in Morgantown. Super Smash Brothers is a series of crossover fighting video games featuring various characters from Nintendo’s most popular games. Registration for the event is $5 and all proceeds will benefit WVU Medicine Children’s. Registration will begin at 12 p.m. and the tournament will begin at 2 p.m.

The next WV Premiere Wedding Expo will be held at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place Hotel on Sunday from 12 – 4 p.m. This event is hosted by Infinity Studios Event Planning. The expo will feature Monte Durham from Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta. Ticket information can be found here.

The Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge Snowshoe Discovery Walk will be held at White Grass on Sunday from 10 – 11 a.m. Attendees can join Park Ranger Ted Hodson at White Grass for a hike discussing why the wetlands are so important to the water cycle, and how to guarantee its survival.
