Friday – Sunday (Feb. 22 – 24)
The annual Prickett’s Fort 18th Century Firearms & Accouterments Show will be held this weekend at Prickett’s Fort. The event will be held on Friday from 1 – 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The show features numerous vendors and craftsman from the Appalachian area who specialize in 18th century weaponry. The event also showcases unique collections that will be available for purchase.
Fairmont State University will be hosting community performances of the ‘Arkansaw Bear’ this weekend. This play is intended for young audiences and the university even held special school day performances on February 20 and 21. This weekend’s performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Friday – Saturday (Feb. 22 – 23)
The 41st Annual Gardner Winter Music Festival will be held at South Middle School in Morgantown on Friday from 6 – 11 p.m. and all day Saturday from 9 a.m. – 11 p.m. Admission is $3 on Friday and $5 on Saturday, but musicians with instruments and children under seven get in free. Saturday (Feb. 23)
The 15th Annual Fairmont Ice Bowl & Chili Cook-off will be held at the Seth Burton memorial DiscGolf Course at Morris Park in Fairmont on Saturday. The event is hosted by Fairmont Flyers DGC and will begin at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $25 and a food donation. The goal of this fundraising event is to raise $5,000 and receive 500 pounds of food. The 7th Annual Cardboard and Duct Tape Sled Race will be held at Blackwater Falls State Park on Saturday. The theme for this year’s race is military. Registration is at 10 a.m., which will be followed by the race. Attendees will build their own sled and race. More information can be found here.
The Empty Bowls Annual Soup and Bread Luncheon will be held at Mylan Park on Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Attendees can sample soups from local restaurants and take home a painted bowl of their own to remember those whose bowl may not be full. Tickets are $20 and available online here as well as several local businesses. Empty Bowls Monongalia is a non-profit organization committed to raising as much money as possible to alleviate hunger in Monongalia County.
The Count Me IN Puppet Show will be held at the Marion County Public Library on Saturday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. The show will be put on by the puppeteers from M.T. Pockets Theatre in Morgantown. The presentation introduces children to disability awareness and inclusion. More information on this show can be found here.

The West Virginia University Planetarium will be hosting its monthly children’s show called ‘Earth Moon, Sun’ on Saturday at 2 p.m. Admission is free and doors open 15 minutes prior to the show. The WVU Planetarium is located on the 5th floor of White Hall on WVU’s downtown campus.
The 2019 Morgantown Polar Plunge will be held at Cheat Lake in Morgantown on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event is hosted by Special Olympics West Virginia. The event is known for its incredibly creative costume costumes that many participants wear for the costume contest before taking the frigid plunge into Cheat Lake. Real Shoot Wrestling will be hosting a show titled ‘Buck-Town Throwdown’ on Saturday at 7:35 p.m. at the Event Center at Brushy Fork in Buckhannon. The event will feature multiple pro wrestling matches including a title match.
Sunday (Feb. 24)
The Bridal Open House at Stonewall Resort will be held at the resort on Sunday from 12 – 3 p.m. Attendees will be able to see firsthand what a wedding at Stonewall Resort would be like. A free wedding ceremony will also be given away during the event.
The Lakeview Spring Wedding Showcase will be held at Lakeview Golf Resort on Sunday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Attendees are invited to come plan their wedding day by experiencing the resort’s cuisine, decor, ballroom and much more.
The Harrison County YMCA Craft Fair will be held at the YMCA on Sunday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. This craft and vendor fair is free to attend. Snacks and drinks will be available.
