Weekend Outlook

Friday-Saturday (Nov. 16-17)

The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts and the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folk Life Center will be commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1968 Farmington Mine Disaster with a special show this weekend. The play titled “Remembering No. 9: Stories from the Farmington Mine Disaster” will be performed at the North Marion High School auditorium on Friday at 7:30 p.m.and Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Additional information on the performance can be found here.

Saturday-Sunday (Nov. 17-18)

The Morgantown Gun Show will be held at the Ruby Community Center at Mylan Park on Saturday and Sunday. The gun show will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The gun show will feature over 300 tables. General admission is $8 and children under 12 enter free.

The Clarksburg Gem Mineral Fossil and Jewelry Show will be held at the Harrison County Parks and Recreation 4-H Center on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and Sunday beginning at 11:00 a.m. Attendees will be able to view high-quality displays of minerals, rocks, gems, jewelry, beads, fossils, artifacts, projectile points and much more. 

The Bridgeport Women’s Club 3rd Annual Holiday Craft Show will be held at the Benedum Civic Center in Bridgeport on Saturday and Sunday. This free-to-attend event will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The craft show will feature jewelry, wooden utensils, primitives, florals, wreaths and many more items for sale. 

The 5th Annual Holly Jolly Christmas Craft & Vendor Show will be held at the Event Center at Brushy Fork in Buckhannon on Saturday and Sunday. This annual event will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. There will be several crafters & vendors signed up. Saturday (Nov. 17)

The Shack Neighborhood House 90th Anniversary Celebration will be held at the Shack Neighborhood House in Pursglove on Saturday. from 3 – 8 p.m. There will be “Share your Story” speakers between 3 – 5 p.m. and live music from 5 – 8 p.m. Additional information, including food that is being offered and instructions to RSVP can be found here.

Market in the Park will be held at Morris Park on Saturday at 6 p.m. This event will close the park to traffic and allow for an open-air holiday market featuring vendors, crafters, food trucks and displays. Admission will be $5 for adults and free for children under 12. Parking will be at East Fairmont High School. Additional information on the event can be found here.

The Morgantown Pop-Up Holiday Market will be held in the Morgantown Marketplace on Spruce Street on Saturday. This free event is organized by the Hnadcrafted Cooperative and will feature wreaths, garlands, swags, evergreen bundles, amaryllis bulbs and paperwhite bulbs for sale. The holiday market will begin at 10:00 a.m.

The South Harrison High School Show Choir will be hosting its 2nd Annual Hawks in Harmony Holiday Bazaar on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This holiday craft and vendor show is free to attend and will be held at South Harrison High School in Lost Creek. 

Santa Claus will arrive at the Medowbrook Mall for the holiday season on Saturday. Author Colleen Driscoll will provide story time and there will be games, crafts and an activity station from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Additional information can be found here

Sunday (Nov. 18)

The Adaland Mansion will host its Thanksgiving Buffet Dinner on Sunday at 12:30 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. The dinner will feature a traditional Thanksgiving meal cooked by Adaland’s own cook of 14 years, Lucy Williamson. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for children. Additional information, including a menu can be found here.
